ODOT Ready for Winter Storm

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – Crews in ODOT District 10 are ready for another round of snow and ice. According to the latest from the National Weather Service, rain will transition to freezing rain, sleet and snow Friday night into Saturday.
District 10 includes Athens, Gallia, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Vinton and Washington Counties. Snowplows will be on the roads in all nine counties, treating and plowing as needed. In total, there are nearly 130 dump trucks and 200 operators ready to tackle 114 routes.
ODOT plows were struck 35 times statewide in 2016. Drivers are reminded to give crews room to work.
Plows typically travel at slower speeds than other traffic and can make sudden stops and turns. They also create a “snow cloud” which can reduce visibility when driving too closely. Motorists are asked to be patient with them.
