Two people were charged with narcotics trafficking following a traffic check on Interstate 70 in Cooper County.
A Cooper County deputy stopped an SUV on Friday, January 9, around 1:21 a.m.
There were three people in the vehicle.
Court documents claim that when questioned individually, both the driver, Nicholas Ray, 41, of Marshall, Mo., and a passenger, James Cornine, 51, of Nelson, Mo., acknowledged having methamphetamine on their person.
Deputies stated Ray had a baggie containing around 30 grams of meth, and Cornine had a baggie containing about 60 grams.
According to documents, another passenger in the SUV told deputies she was carrying a pipe.
Prosecutors charged Ray and Cornine with second-degree drug trafficking.
Ray was also charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while revoked or suspended.
Cornine was being held in the Cooper County Jail under a $150,000 bond.
Ray was being jailed under a $100,000 bond.
Katelyn J. Williams, 32, of Marshall, Mo., was charged with possessing a controlled substance.
She was placed at the Cooper County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
