4 People Charged After Toledo Corrections Officers Assault Inmate With Flash Lights, Court Docs Allege

Four people have been charged after multiple corrections officers assaulted an inmate at the Toledo Correctional Institution, according to authorities.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol records, the assault took place on April 7, 2025. According to the investigation, two corrections officers used flashlights as weapons and repeatedly struck an inmate in the head.

The report did not describe the severity of the inmate’s injuries. The OSHP has declared that they are conducting an intensive investigation into the case.

Denise Scott and Karesha Jude face the most serious allegations, which include felonious assault, assault, and dereliction of duty.

James Brown is facing charges of assault and neglect of duty. Scott Matthias has been charged with desertion of duty. Both options prevented you from booking photos.

All four individuals deny their claimed participation in the case.
