2 students arrested with loaded guns at NYC schools

Two students were arrested with loaded guns at NYC public schools on Monday.

The first arrest occurred at 10:15 a.m. at Harlem Renaissance High School on East 128th Street, when police arrived with a warrant for a 17-year-old kid sought for reckless endangerment, according to sources and police.

Police allegedly discovered the teen with a loaded pistol on his waistband.

The teen was arrested at the site. There were no injuries reported among students, faculty, or officers.

According to sources, a gun was found on a kid at Long Island City High School in Queens on Monday.

The arrest occurred on the same day that a teenager was found with a loaded gun following a fight at a Queens high school.

A school safety agent discovered a loaded 9mm handgun on a 15-year-old during a confrontation between students at Long Island City High School on Broadway around 11 a.m., according to sources.

The teenager was also brought into custody. There were no injuries recorded.

In a statement responding to the Queens bust, a spokesperson for NYC public schools said, “This incident is a deeply concerning example of the proliferation of guns in our society.”

“Weapons have absolutely no place in our schools, or our city,” the statement continued. “This item was quickly recovered by NYPD, and all students and staff are safe. We are offering additional security and supports to the school community today and in the coming days.”
