A Lady Lake lady was apprehended for spraying dogs from a city-owned utility box at Heritage Park’s fountain.
Officers came to Lady Lake Heritage Park, located at 312 U.S. Hwy. 27/441, at approximately 3:15 p.m. Sunday to report 43-year-old Annaruth Elizabeth Harris acting erratically, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The complainant stated that she forcefully approached him, shouted nonsense, and poured water at his dogs.
When the officers arrived, they discovered Harris near the park’s south-side water fountain. She instantly exited and proceeded to a park seat where all of her belongings were stored. She then yelled at law enforcement that they weren’t there for her and got confrontational, according to the complaint.
She proceeded to sit on the bench and speak with one of the officers. He observed a green garden hose extending across the park. It was still turned on, causing a small flood in the vicinity. It collided with a water connection box near the fountain Harris was at when they arrived, according to the report.
Harris was asked about the incident with the dogs, and she responded that she disliked hunting dogs and had to use the hose to protect herself. She made little sense during this talk, claiming that God was about to attack the officers. She also stated that she needed to hook up the water to wash her feet, according to the report.
The officers then verified where the hose was connected. They discovered a utility box that was usually closed but open with the faucet turned on. According to the report, the hose appeared to have been turned on for quite some time as a considerable amount of water began to flood the park.
In addition, the Town of Lady Lake held the water connection and supply. A call to the Lady Lake Parks and Recreation Director revealed that no one had permission to use the water box, according to the report.
Harris was arrested on charges of utility service theft (less than $300). She was brought to Lake County Jail and then released on her own recognizance. She is responsible for appearing in court on February 3.
