Grand Prairie ISD middle school teacher apprehended for alleged grooming of a student, officials say

Grand Prairie ISD officials stated an Arnold Middle School teacher was arrested following an investigation into alleged grooming of a student that began in October 2025.

Kelvin Leiva, an English and Language Arts teacher, was arrested at his residence on January 8 on third-degree criminal charges.

In a statement to parents, the district stated that Leiva was placed on administrative leave on October 23, 2025, following an anonymous accusation of inappropriate conversations with a student.

According to officials, police took over the investigation the next day. According to district authorities, Leiva has not returned to campus since she was placed on administrative leave.

The Grand Prairie Police Department verified that Leiva was arrested on counts of grooming.

The Grand Prairie Police Department also confirmed that Leiva bonded out on January 9.
