2 Children Wounded By Gunfire On Garners Ferry Road; Probe Ongoing

Authorities say two children are recovering from gunshot wounds after an incident on Friday night along Garners Ferry Road.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the 7600 block of Garners Ferry Road around 9:30 p.m., where they discovered the Columbia-Richland Fire Department treating two victims, a 14-year-old and a 12-year-old.

According to the sheriff’s department, the 14-year-old had a gunshot wound to the hand and the 12-year-old had two gunshot wounds, one to the hand and another to the lower body.

Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital by emergency medical personnel. As of Saturday evening, the shooting was still being investigated, with scant details about the incident available.
