Identity Released in Bradbury Road Barricade Incident
MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – The identity of the suspect that had allegedly attempted to barricade himself during an investigation has been released.
According to Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 his office received a call regarding a female that allegedly had been assaulted and kidnapped by her boyfriend. Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Bradbury Road where the suspect of the alleged assault and kidnapping, Eric Morris, 45, of Middleport, was believed to be inside at that time.
Sheriff’s deputies, with assistance from the Middleport Police Department, made contact with Morris who was found inside of the residence. Morris became belligerent and aggressive toward deputies and stated that he had a gun after barricading himself inside of the basement. Deputies reported a single shot being fired from inside of the basement by Morris while also making statements that he would shoot the deputies if they entered the basement. Deputies were able to make contact with the suspect again after he had sustained a self inflicted stab wound to the neck using a piece of metal.
Morris was taken into custody after continuing to resist arrest and was transported by Meigs County EMS to the Holzer Meigs ER. Morris was then life-flighted to Saint Mary’s Medical Center where he has been listed in stable condition.
A search warrant was then executed on Morris’ residence where the alleged kidnapping and assault took place. BCI was requested to assist in processing the crime scene. Upon a search of the residence deputies allegedly located an indoor marijuana growing operation along with numerous firearms. The items were seized and the case is still under investigation.
