Suspects Sought In Alleged Armed Robbery During Snowstorm In East Charlotte

Two people accused of an armed robbery at a convenience store in east Charlotte on Saturday are wanted by police.

The robbery reportedly happened on Saturday, Jan. 31, at a Circle K store along East Independence Boulevard, while a snowstorm was bearing down on the region.

The surveillance footage reveals three individuals confronting a store employee, followed by one of them striking him.

The suspects committed the robbery in the middle of a downpour, startling Sgt. Brian Scharf of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

“I am surprised – in the middle of a snowstorm because honestly, there wasn’t a whole lot else going on,” said Scharf.

The detective stated that one of the suspects confronted the store worker about a previous incident, which led to the heist.

“I mean, it’s terrible. It’s really scary, right?” said Scharf. “The cashier’s just an innocent guy trying to make a living. It could be anybody. It could be somebody’s son, somebody’s daughter, somebody’s mother, brother.”

He stated that police had already identified and arrested one of the robbers.

According to Scharf, Ryan Chisholm has now been charged in connection with the violent crime. The detective stated that the defendant was wearing an ankle monitor from a previous case when the crime occurred.

Scharf expressed hope that releasing CCTV footage from the heist may assist authorities in identifying the other two criminals involved.

“One of the best things we have, honestly, is surveillance video and making it available to the public—photographs like this, because someone will recognize them. “Somebody will know who it is,” Scharf remarked.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is requested to contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
