An investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed Thursday morning while attempting to break into an apartment at a senior living community in north Houston, police say.
This happened just after 4 a.m. at The Catania Senior Living Apartment Complex on Airline Drive, north of the North Freeway.
According to the Houston Police Department, a male in his 30s attempted to force his way into a second-floor apartment. However, a man inside unlocked the door and fired. The door is damaged and has dents, and the doorjamb appears to be smashed,” said HPD Detective Eddie Torres. “The person who made entry into the apartment was pronounced deceased.”
Investigators said it was unclear whether the two individuals knew each other. There is yet no recognized motivation.
There have been no arrests or charges filed at this time.
Police questioned the individual who opened fire.
