A Caldwell man has been apprehended after a road rage incident that resulted in a crash with another vehicle.
Caldwell Police responded to a traffic collision involving two vehicles near Linden Road and Smeed shortly before 5 p.m. on February 4.
An officer on patrol witnessed the incident, which involved 20-year-old Malachi Ineck aggressively driving a Volkswagen Jetta and engaging in road rage behavior. Ineck was spotted attempting to pass another driver in a no-passing zone, colliding with the front of a Jeep and causing his vehicle to roll over.
Following the crash, Ineck exited his car and assaulted the other motorist. Officers from the Real Time Information Center discovered evidence of the crime on the department’s traffic cameras.
Ineck was arrested on allegations of reckless driving and assault, taken to the hospital for medical clearance, and then put into the Canyon County Jail.
Caldwell Police caution motorists that road rage is hazardous and can quickly escalate. They advise keeping a safe following distance and honking the horn sparingly to avoid frustration.
