A man who was accused of killing his roommate over $15 was sentenced to 30 years in jail on Thursday.
Sincir Malik Porter, 22, entered a guilty plea on January 14. He was given credit for 222 days of service already.
Minneapolis police responded to a stabbing on the 4900 block of Hiawatha Avenue in July and discovered 25-year-old Abdirahman Adan Abdirahman on the ground with a stab wound to the neck.
A witness informed police that Porter and Abdirahman were arguing when Porter stabbed him in the neck and fled the home.
Surveillance video captured the two men arguing over $15. Porter stabbed Abdirahman in the neck, causing him to assume a fighting stance before realizing his injuries and collapsing.
When cops discovered Porter, court documents allege that he said, “Yeah, you got me.”
Porter admitted to stabbing Abdirahman in a post-Miranda questioning, saying he had previously considered killing him and his other housemates. He also allegedly claimed his housemates were lucky they didn’t get in his way.
