Sparks police are asking for witnesses after a man allegedly hit a one-year-old child with a rock.
Officers were dispatched to a home on 5th Street shortly after 1:30 p.m. Sunday. They visited with the child’s parents, who stated that the suspect, later identified as Jorge Gonzales, was chatting to himself before throwing the rock.
According to Sparks Police, the incident caused a cut on the back of the child’s head.
Gonzales was spotted a few blocks away and arrested. He was booked for the following charges:
- Felony child abuse
- Battery with a deadly weapon
- Disregard for safety of a person
