Man Found Dead And 14-year-old Injured In Shooting After Chicago-area Party

A 22-year-old man was discovered dead inside a home in unincorporated Oswego Township on Sunday, while sheriff’s investigators investigated a shooting that injured a teenage girl.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called Sunday afternoon after Chicago police reported that a 14-year-old girl had been treated for a gunshot wound to her leg. Investigators later established that she had been shot earlier that morning at a home in the first block of Palomino Lane and was released from a Chicago-area hospital.

Authorities suspect the incident occurred between 8 and 10 a.m. on Sunday. Deputies discovered a man dead inside the home at 9:45 p.m. while executing a search warrant there.

The victim was recognized by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office as 22 years old, but his identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Preliminary investigations show that the man was shot many times. The official cause and manner of death are still under investigation, pending a forensic autopsy.

According to sheriff’s officials, a party was held at the property on Saturday evening, and the shooting appeared to have occurred after the event had ended. According to investigators, the act did not appear to be random and was likely targeted.

A prospective person of interest was apprehended, but no charges had been filed as of Sunday evening.

Authorities are requesting that anybody who attended the party or has information or video linked to the event contact the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. Anonymous tips can also be filed via Crime Stoppers.
