Woman high on hand sanitizer apprehended after attacking officer in Ohio

A Canton woman is facing many charges after allegedly striking an officer during a domestic disturbance investigation and later damaging property at the Stark County Jail.

Officers went to a reported domestic disturbance on February 16 in the 3rd Street SW area. According to a police report, Jade Cain and her boyfriend, Alan King, had previously experienced troubles at the residence.

When cops arrived, they found King’s mother outside the residence, where she spoke with police about the couple’s ongoing troubles. Authorities claim that after Cain and King left the house, Cain immediately started fighting with relatives.

According to police, Cain appeared to be under the influence and unable to settle down. An officer chose to detain her and seat her in a patrol cruiser while the inquiry was ongoing.

The report states that Cain went limp and collapsed as the officers led her to the cruiser. She briefly sat down in the van and requested a shoe. Police say she then swung her left hand and hit an officer in the face. Body camera footage purportedly shows the officer swiftly closing the cruiser door.

A second officer came shortly after, and Cain was taken to the Stark County Jail.

According to investigators, Cain was placed in a holding cell where she repeatedly kicked the door and hit her head against it. Police say she slipped her left hand out of her handcuffs and began beating the cell door pane with the cuffs, breaking and eventually shattering the glass.

Cain was charged with assaulting a peace officer and vandalism. She is expected to appear in court again on February 24.
