An elderly woman was stabbed to death with scissors, and another lady was seriously wounded in a shocking roommate brawl in Crown Heights on Saturday night, according to police.
Police responded to a 911 call at the Ebbets Field Apartments at 1700 Bedford Ave. in Brooklyn shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday and discovered a 74-year-old woman with fatal multiple knife wounds to her head and arms, as well as a 72-year-old female victim with cuts to her back and arms.
The women were stabbed with scissors, and their alleged attacker was discovered locked inside, requiring officers to kick down the door to take her into jail, according to neighbors and law enforcement officials.
According to sources, the assault was the result of a dispute between roommates, and their 43-year-old female roommate was identified as a person of interest and arrested on the scene.
According to neighbors, the suspected assailant only moved in five months ago, and a male who lived with the women was spotted hammering on the barred door, yelling, “Let me in!” before officers came.
“We are hearing everything through the door and have heard police say there were multiple stabs with scissors,” renter Diana Harris stated.
“These are very nice people,” she stated about the victims.
Harris’ niece, Anissa Christian, described the stabbings as “senseless.”
“I thought it was a normal argument between adults, but some adults take it too far,” she told me. “Clearly, they don’t have a heart for the elderly people who live in the house.”
According to police and sources, the younger female roommate is currently being questioned at the 71st Precinct Station House.
The stabbed victims were transported to Kings County Hospital, where the older woman was declared deceased and the second woman was listed in stable condition.
According to an NYPD representative, the deceased woman’s name is being withheld until notification of her family.
