A man has been sentenced to 98 years in prison for his role in a two-day crime spree in February 2023 that killed one man, according to a press statement from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Following a three-day trial in February, deputy prosecutors found Terell D. Williamson guilty of murder, armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, unauthorized possession of a firearm by a significant violent criminal, intimidation, and two counts of auto theft.

At 4:13 p.m. on February 11, 2023, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a fatal hit-and-run crash near 16th Street and Capitol Avenue on the city’s near-north side. That is near the new building site for IU Health Methodist Hospital.

Witnesses stated that a silver SUV was driving dangerously before swerving into a curb and colliding with John Pollard, who later died of his injuries. Several witnesses told authorities that they thought the motorist purposely hit the victim.

Investigators found discovered Pollard and his son were strolling at 16th and Meridian Streets when they were confronted by Williamson, resulting in a brief altercation. Following the altercation, Williamson struck Pollard with his vehicle.

Officers arrived at a home in the 4900 block of Guion Road about 20 minutes later to speak with Williamson’s girlfriend, who reported receiving calls from him claiming to have killed someone and threatening her and her family. She gave authorities a description of the vehicle she hired for Williamson, as well as the sites he frequented.

Officers responded to a disturbance in the 4100 block of Ruckle Street at 10:25 p.m. Williamson was brought into jail, and a search warrant was performed at his house. He was eventually released following interrogation.

Investigators eventually found the SUV in an alley near the 400 block of Harvard Place, thanks to the rental car company’s assistance.

On February 12, 2023, at 6:30 a.m., cops were dispatched to the Ruckle Street residence for a disturbance. Officers discovered Williamson had fought with his mother before departing in her Chevrolet Trax.

While cops were still on the scene, additional officers were summoned to a gas station on West 38th Street and North Illinois Street for an allegation of a car theft. Officers discovered Williamson’s mother’s Chevrolet Trax parked and running at the gas station.

Nearly 14 hours later, officers responded to an alleged carjacking involving a pizza delivery driver in downtown. As the driver went to make a delivery, Williamson attempted to enter her car before pointing a gun at her and snatching it. Williamson told the driver he was fleeing police.

Officers used the vehicle’s GPS to follow Williamson to a residence on South Addison Street, where he was arrested without incident.
