Fatal fire in Meigs being investigated

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – Two people are deceased following a fire at a residence on Old Dexter Road.

Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood said the names of the victims are not being released yet. According to Sheriff Wood the fire was reported about 9:17 p.m. on Nov. 28, 2018. Multiple fire departments responded to the scene including Salem, Columbia, Rutland, Pomeroy, Wilkesville and Vinton. Meigs EMS was also on the scene. The Meigs County Coroner along with the State of Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office responded as well to investigate the apparent fatal fire.

The matter remains under investigation.
