The Salem Police Department apprehended a Gresham man and seized 27 pounds of meth Monday as part of a narcotics investigation on Mission Street Southeast.
Around 11:43 p.m., officers approached Luis Montes-Jimenez, 39, who was driving at the time. Police secured a search order for the truck and discovered about 10 pounds of methamphetamine stashed beneath it.
On Tuesday, officers uncovered new information that led them to a hotel room booked by Montes-Jimenez near Interstate 5, where they seized an additional 17 pounds of meth.
Montes-Jimenez was booked into Marion County Jail on accusations of unlawful delivery and possession of methamphetamine.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
According to a news release, Salem police and federal agents have confiscated nearly 150 pounds of methamphetamine over the last year and a half, as well as multiple pounds of other illegal substances, including 18 pounds of fentanyl in powder and pill form.
