A traffic stop with a child in the car resulted in the seizure of nearly 30 pounds of cocaine, according to authorities.
On March 31, detectives reported making contact with the driver, Kim D. Hill, 52, of Houston, while conducting a traffic stop on I-10 near mile marker 42 for a traffic violation. When detectives approached the automobile, they saw a five-year-old child sitting in the front passenger seat.
While speaking with Hill, deputies reported seeing evidence of illegal activity in transit. Deputies searched the vehicle and deployed a K-9 drug detection dog, who allegedly responded positively to the narcotics stench emanating from the car. During the investigation of the vehicle, the detective discovered 12 parcels secreted inside the trunk, totaling 29.8 pounds of cocaine that tested positive. Deputies assessed the total street value of the recovered narcotics to be $500,000.
Hill was detained and charged with possessing CDS II with the intent to distribute and cruelty to kids, according to authorities.
Hill was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center, and his bond is set at $3,750,000. CPSO Special Victims Unit detectives and the Department of child and Family Services reported that the youngster involved in the incident had been released to a family member.
