Chicago police are searching for four suspects in connection with a man’s horrific death on the Northwest Side last month.
The incident occurred around 3:19 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, in the 3900 block of West Belmont Avenue in the Avondale neighborhood.
According to CPD, a man was discovered unresponsive on the ground with head injuries. He was sent to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition and later died.
Cook County Crime Stoppers identified the victim as 25-year-old Alexander Kazanowski, or Xander for short. They stated that his death was caused by blunt force trauma, which is consistent with a fatal beating.
The suspects were identified as three African American men; one of them was wearing a black jacket, a black baseball hat, and blue trousers at the time of the event. The second man sported a black jacket, a white hooded sweatshirt, and black slacks. The third man sported a blue jacket, blue pants, and a brown winter hat.
They are also looking for a lady who police characterized as Asian and who was wearing a black jacket and white leggings at the time.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 prize for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible. On Saturday, they and police will ask neighbors in Avondale for any fresh information.
Police have not publicly contacted the folks they are looking for. Police have also not revealed any specifics regarding what they believe caused Kazanowski’s death.
According to his obituary, Kazanowski was the father of one daughter, Thea, and a son on the way, John.
He grew up in South Barrington, Illinois, and wrestled in middle and high school. According to his obituary, he created his first company, Wurk Services, at the age of 19 and was also an actress and model.
Kazanowski’s organs were donated.
Kazanowski’s memorial service is scheduled for this Saturday.
