The IMPD is investigating after a man was shot in the parking lot of a Kroger supermarket on Saturday evening following an apparent disagreement over Pokémon cards.
According to IMPD, just before 7 p.m. on April 11, officers were dispatched to 680 Twin Aire Drive, at Southeastern Avenue and East Pleasant Run Parkway Drive East on Indianapolis’ near east side, in response to a complaint of a shooting.
When authorities arrived, they discovered an adult male in the Kroger parking lot with gunshot wounds.
Police say the man was brought to a nearby hospital in “serious but stable” condition. Hospital workers have since informed police that the victim is now in “stable” condition and has had surgery.
According to IMPD Capt. Don Weilhamer, a preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting was targeted and resulted from an apparent quarrel over Pokémon cards. A person of interest was seized on the scene, but authorities are still investigating their role, if any.
