2 teens apprehended in connection with deadly Arlington crash that killed 53-year-old woman

Two teens have been detained in connection with a March crash that killed a 53-year-old woman, Arlington police say.

Arlington Police officers issued warrants for 18-year-old Adam Hamad and a juvenile man on one count of highway racing that resulted in death. The US Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force apprehended both on April 15th without incident.

Hamad was put into the Arlington City Jail, while the Juvenile was sent to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center.

According to police, the crash occurred on March 6th, near South Cooper Street and Eden Road.

Tanya Cypert, 53, was driving a 2022 Hyundai Tucson when she collided with Hamad’s northbound 2025 Mercedes-Benz C300 while attempting to turn left. Cypert was transported to a hospital, where she eventually died.

Witnesses said that the Mercedes and other automobiles looked to be racing before the collision, speeding and weaving through traffic. According to authorities, surveillance video supported those accounts.

The Mercedes was traveling more than 100 mph in a 45 mph zone when it crashed. Investigators suspect the juvenile, driving a 2012 Lexus IS, was racing the Mercedes, which was not involved in the crash.

The investigation is underway.
