Maryland man sentenced to 15 years in prison for 2021 stabbing deaths in north Columbus

A Maryland man charged with the stabbing deaths of two individuals in Columbus nearly five years ago pleaded guilty to two counts of murder on Tuesday.

According to Franklin County Municipal Court documents, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of East Dublin Granville Road on August 23, 2021, to speak with the manager of an apartment complex.

The manager informed officers that she went to check on a resident who was delinquent on her rent. When the manager entered the flat, she saw Christina Antoline, 40, lying unresponsive on the floor. The management exited the flat and called the police.

Officers searched the rest of the residence and discovered 66-year-old Randall Davis deceased in the bedroom. Both individuals had many stab wounds and slashes. They were pronounced deceased on the scene.

According to court papers, witness and video evidence led investigators to suspect 32-year-old Daniel Newsome. DNA evidence established Newsome’s involvement in the crime, and an inquiry revealed he killed the victims.

Judge Jaiza Page sentenced Newsome to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 15 years. The sentences will run concurrently with another case he has in Maryland.
