A man was apprehended after he allegedly groped and threatened to kidnap a teenage fast-food worker in Phoenix, according to court documents.
On April 14, Ariel Yair Zelaya-Zuniga stopped at a Taco Bell drive-through and inquired about the teen’s work schedule. The terrified teenager gave him a bogus time.
Zelaya-Zuniga then entered the restaurant, grabbed the teen’s hips, and tried to kiss her neck, according to court documents. The youngster informed authorities that she had identified herself as a minor, but Zelaya-Zuniga allegedly proceeded to behave inappropriately.
He returned via the drive-through on April 21, criticizing the teenager for giving him the incorrect time. He then allegedly told her in Spanish that he was going to kidnap her, according to records.
The teenager photographed the suspect’s license plate and provided authorities with a physical description. Court filings state that surveillance footage from the restaurant verified the earlier incident.
Zelaya-Zuniga was arrested on April 22. He was charged with luring a juvenile and resisting arrest.
