Cincinnati Daycare Worker Fired After Video Appears to Show Her Wishing Donald Trump Had Been Killed

An Ohio childcare worker was reportedly fired after sharing a video on social media in which she appeared relieved that the president was not harmed when gunfire broke out Saturday evening at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington.

Corrine Baum worked at the BrightPath Bridgetown Child Care Center in Cincinnati. The company became aware of the post on Sunday and terminated her employment.

Baum’s response to the shooting appears in a roughly 20-second video clip. “There’s a few creators on here saying like Friday or yesterday could have been the day. And then I wake up to that news, but not THAT news,” she says. “We’re going to have to pay really close attention to what they’re actually trying to distract us from.”

Authorities have described Saturday’s incident as an assassination attempt targeting the president.

According to officials, 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen attempted to force his way through a security checkpoint at the dinner while armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and knives. He exchanged gunfire with officers before they arrested him. President Trump, his wife Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and several cabinet members were present at the event. One law enforcement officer suffered a gunshot wound but did not sustain serious injuries.

Federal authorities have charged Allen with multiple offenses, including committing violence with a weapon and assaulting a federal agent.

BrightPath operates 12 preschools and daycare centers across the Tri-State region and describes itself as an educational provider for young children. Officials did not disclose Baum’s specific role at the Bridgetown location.

BrightPath stated that it does not tolerate or support violence against anyone, adding that Baum’s comments went against its core values.
