18-Year-Old Drunk Florida Teen Hits Motorcycle, Home With Car In Chase, Deputies Say

A Florida teen is facing several charges after authorities said she hit a motorcycle and a home with her car while under the influence.

The driver, 18, reportedly told deputies that she had three alcoholic drinks at home before the incident, which cost an estimated $35,000 in damages.

Around 12:15 a.m. on April 28, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office received complaints of a reckless motorist just north of U.S. 27 and County Road 474 in Clermont. The sheriff’s office got complaints that the driver, Jaylyn Kosmyna, 18, was doing burnouts in an apartment complex lot.

The responding deputy stated in an arrest document that they approached Kosmyna in the opposite direction in a marked agency vehicle and urged her to stop. According to the deputy, she acknowledged the command then accelerated along US 27 and ran a red light.

At U.S. 27 and Citrus Parkway, the deputy engaged their lights and initiated a traffic stop, prompting Kosmyna to abandon the road and drive through yards. A home video shows Kosmyna hitting a motorcyclist with her automobile and leaving the vehicle in motion. As a result, her car collided with a residence.

Kosmyna was observed attempting to flee, but was found near her car when deputies arrived.

While speaking with deputies, Kosmyna admitted to drinking two beatbox alcoholic beverages and one buzzball at her apartment, according to the affidavit. The deputy noticed an alcoholic odor on her breath. Kosmyna’s breath sample results revealed that she was driving with an alcohol concentration of 0.163, which is more than eight times the legal limit of 0.02 for someone under the age of 21.

Kosmyna was detained for DUI, running and eluding an officer. She received a written warning for running the red light.
