Police: Vancouver pediatrician who hosted ‘naked sleepovers’ with children discovered dead in home

A man has been arrested in connection with a local pediatrician accused of hosting “naked sleepovers” for children, according to officials.

Chad Hartley, 36, a Vancouver resident, was detained on April 29 after detectives discovered he was affiliated with a pediatrician who had recently been accused of child sex abuse.

Hartley was booked into Clark County Jail on allegations of possessing and dealing in images of a minor engaged in sexually explicit behavior. Since then, he has been charged with first-degree trafficking and child molestation.

Dr. Michael Wilmington, a 61-year-old pediatrician, worked at several medical facilities in Portland and Vancouver. He is accused of holding naked sleepovers for children at his home in La Center, Washington.

Police claimed they discovered evidence after conducting a search warrant at his residence on April 30. The following day, they also learned about a youngster Wilmington reportedly molested.

A warrant was issued for Wilmington’s arrest, but his body was discovered in Lewis County on May 2 following what authorities described as an apparent suicide. A death inquiry is now underway.
