North Texas Resident Wins $41M Lottery Jackpot, Officials Say

The Texas Lottery announced that a North Texan won the $41 million Lotto Texas jackpot prize.

According to a news statement from the Texas Lottery, a Richardson resident claimed the prize following the drawing on April 20. The winner elected to accept the cash worth of the prize and received $22,574,163.57 before taxes, according to officials.

The winning ticket, which matched all six drawn numbers, was purchased at a 7-Eleven on 3700 Interstate 30 in Mesquite, according to the Texas Lottery.

According to the statement, the winner, who preferred to remain anonymous, informed the Texas Lottery that they have not missed a Lotto Texas drawing in 30 years.

When the winning numbers were revealed, the winner’s spouse verified the ticket several times before waking them up. According to the statement, they intend to utilize their riches to aid their children and grandchildren, as well as travel the world.

“I stayed up all night thinking about it!” The winner stated in the release. “There’s a whole world out there I need to see!”

The Texas Lotto jackpot began at $5 million and spanned 66 drawings before being won on April 20. Drawings are held every Monday.
