Arizona man sentenced to prison for trafficking over 30 pounds of methamphetamine

An Arizona man will serve five years in prison for trafficking more than two dozen pounds of methamphetamine, according to officials.

Miguel Leon, who was convicted of drug trafficking and firearms crimes, was sentenced to five years in prison, Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes stated today.

According to Mayes’ office, on October 29, 2025, Leon delivered 32.6 pounds of meth to an informant in the parking lot of a Phoenix business. The informant and a Mexico-based coordinator agreed to buy the drugs for $30,000. When he was arrested, investigators discovered a loaded 9mm handgun inside his car.

Leon pleaded guilty to two felonies: possession of a hazardous substance for sale and weapons misbehavior.

Leon was sentenced to five years in prison plus 2.5 years for carrying a handgun during a drug offense. Both will be served simultaneously. In addition, he must pay over $5,000 in fines and surrender his weapon and car involved in the narcotics transaction.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety investigated the case.
