The United States Geological Survey reported an earthquake near the Tennessee-North Carolina border early Thursday.
According to officials, the 2.2-magnitude earthquake struck at a depth of 6 kilometers. It was detected near the epicenter at 12:26 a.m. The quake struck around 6.1 miles west-northwest of Lake Santeetlah, North Carolina, and 25.4 miles south of Maryville, Tennessee.
