A 59-year-old Brooklyn woman was allegedly raped by a neighbor who smashed down her apartment door and violently beat and choked her on Friday night, according to police and sources.
The attacker broke into the woman’s home in Bensonhurst, located at 15th Avenue and 71st Street, around 8:30 p.m., entered her bedroom, demanded sex, and then unleashed multiple blows while strangling her during the brutal sexual assault, according to law enforcement sources.
The shocked victim reported the trauma around 11:15 p.m., telling responding officers she had been sexually attacked by someone she knew, according to police.
She was brought to Lutheran Hospital and is in stable condition, according to police and sources.
Police say a person of interest has been detained, but no arrests have been made.
According to sources, police are questioning a 38-year-old neighbor who lives in the building.
On Saturday, police stormed the area, and photographs show NYPD crime scene investigators, detectives, and members of the Special Victims Squad exiting the home with many evidence bags.
The investigation is underway.
