Two men were detained Saturday after they were allegedly involved in kidnapping a teenager and holding him in a remote desert area in Rio Verde, according to court documents.
Ricardo Valdez Rios and Josse De Jesus Camacho Ramos were arrested on allegations of kidnapping, armed robbery, and aggravated violence.
Court documents indicate that the two were involved in the kidnapping of the 18-year-old victim when he and Ramos were off-roading.
Rios arrived at the off-roading spot, allegedly threatened the victim with a gun, and robbed him, stealing his car.
According to court filings, Rios and Ramos bound the victim’s hands and feet and placed a bag over his head before transporting him to a desolate desert region.
Officers eventually discovered the victim handcuffed in the desert and captured Rios nearby.
According to court documents, the suspects declined to explain why the victim was kidnapped; nonetheless, the suspects may have known the victim’s father through employment.
