Resorts World NYC has revealed the first-ever $1 million jackpot winner, a happy New York City resident who won big early Thursday morning.
The casino, which launched live table games last month, announced that a guest scooped a $1,009,357.41 grand prize while playing the Aristocrat Million Dollar Dragon Link progressive slot machine, becoming the first player in the casino’s history to win more than $1 million on a single slot machine.
The winner, a New York City resident who works in Manhattan hit the prize during the free spins bonus feature by filling the screen with all 15 coin-like symbols soon after 1 a.m. on May 14th.
Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East, the parent company of Resorts World NYC, praised the victory as “monumental.”
“This is a monumental moment not only for one incredibly lucky New Yorker, but for Resorts World New York City and the entire state,” DeSalvio added.
He said that the win also demonstrated the “positive economic impact” that casinos had on New York State, citing the $1 million payout that the state is set to receive.
“When our guests win big, New York wins big,” DeSalvio explained.
Resorts World held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 28 to officially launch 242 live table games, marking the city’s first table gaming operation. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, the business also unveiled a new floor with 2,507 commercial casino slots.
