Teen Dead And 16-Year-Old Taken Into Custody After Triple-Teen Ambush On St. Petersburg Street

A 14-year-old boy died, and a 16-year-old is facing murder charges following a tragic street shooting in St. Petersburg last night.

The incident unfolded just after 6:30 p.m. in the 4200 block of 15th Avenue South. According to police, Gaige Santos-Brown, 14, was standing in the area when three teenagers approached him. Gunfire broke out, leaving Santos-Brown critically wounded. Paramedics took the teenager to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he subsequently died from his injuries.

After apprehending one of the alleged suspects, investigators elevated the case to homicide overnight. Police arrested 16-year-old Kenneth Washington and charged him with felony murder and violation of supervised release.

Detectives are still searching for the remaining two teenagers who approached Santos-Brown. The St. Petersburg Police Department is urging anyone with information on their identities or the shooting to call them at 727-893-7780.
