Plumbers and Pipefitters Local No. 168 to distribute applications

MIDDLEPORT, Ohio – Looking for a career, but not interested in attending college? The Plumbers and Pipefitters Local No. 168 may have the job for you.

The Plumbers and Pipefitters Local No. 168 Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee will distribute applications for apprenticeship Monday through Friday from May 13-24, 2019 at Meigs County Ohio Means Jobs Center located at 150 Mill Street in Middleport.

According to a statement from Ohio Means Jobs in Middleport, applicants must be 18 years of age and be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalency*. All applicants will be required to take an aptitude test and must achieve the established minimum score to qualify for an interview. A test fee of $30 must accompany each returned application. The apprentice term is five years, consisting of paid on-the-job training as well as related classroom instruction. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be certified as a Journeyman Pipefitter and/or Plumber, like those that work for firms like Absolute Precision Plumbing, to name one example. All applicants will be considered without regard to gender, race, age, color, religion, or national origin.

Applications must be returned to the Local 168 Training Center, 119 Wood Street, Marietta, Ohio by 5 p.m., May 24 and include the following:

Proof of birth date. High school transcript or report of GED with results. * Proof of high school graduation or equivalent. * If you were in the military, a copy of your DD214.

A resume is recommended but not required. *Applications may be submitted without transcripts. However, transcripts must be supplied to qualify for an interview. 17 year olds and high school seniors may apply, but must be 18 years old and a graduate/graduate equivalent prior to indenture.
