New prison records detail Mackenzie Shirilla discipline cases at Ohio Reformatory for Women

MARYSVILLE, Ohio — Newly obtained disciplinary records reviewed by 19 News provide insight into Mackenzie Shirilla’s conduct while incarcerated at the Ohio Reformatory for Women, where she is serving a life sentence.

A court convicted Shirilla in 2023 of the murders of Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan in a fatal crash. She received a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 15 years.

The records reviewed by 19 News detail several conduct violations between 2024 and 2025.

September 2024: Extensive Contraband Discovery

A conduct report dated Sept. 4, 2024, states that prison staff found a lengthy list of contraband during a search. According to the report, officers recovered 29 bottles of paint, various craft supplies, jewelry-making charms, a large quantity of what was described as “Monopoly money,” and other unauthorized items. The report also mentions I.O.U. notes and documents listing prices for handmade bracelets and earrings.

Officials charged Shirilla with possessing contraband and stealing, although she denied the theft accusation.

October 2024: Search Uncovers Nude Magazine Images

A conduct report from Oct. 19, 2024, says a random search of Shirilla’s bed area uncovered several unauthorized items, including altered state-issued pants, a fan believed to belong to another inmate, and four nude magazine photographs. Records indicate Shirilla pleaded guilty to the violation.

January 2025: Unauthorized Medication and Photo Found

In a Jan. 16, 2025, conduct report, prison officials said a random search revealed medication that had not been prescribed to Shirilla, along with a personal photograph that staff believed depicted drug use.

Hearing records show Shirilla told officials the pills were prenatal vitamins she had received from another individual and maintained that the photograph did not depict drug use.

April 2025: More Than 100 Video Visits With Unapproved Individual

The records also outline visitation-related violations. In an April 29, 2025, conduct report, staff alleged that Shirilla participated in more than 100 video visits with someone who was not listed as an approved visitor and who used a different name. According to the report, the individual was a former inmate who had been released from custody.

Records show Shirilla pleaded guilty and received a 30-day restriction on electronic privileges.

September 2025: Explicit Conduct During Video Visits

Another conduct report, dated Sept. 22, 2025, details sexually explicit behavior during video visits. Staff reported that Shirilla exposed her breast to a visitor, while the visitor displayed a sex toy on camera and later appeared fully undressed.

According to records, Shirilla pleaded guilty to the violation. A hearing officer imposed a 60-day suspension of video visitation privileges. The report notes that seven video visits occurred between Shirilla and that visitor.

19 News Seeks Interview

19 News said it has contacted the Ohio Reformatory for Women multiple times requesting an interview with Shirilla. As of now, the prison has not responded to those requests.
