Florida Man Sentenced To Prison For Crime Against Child

A Florida man has been sentenced for a crime against a child.

Erick Rico Beauvil, 21, was sentenced to 15 years in Florida’s Department of Corrections.

On October 12, 2022, deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded to the AdventHealth hospital in Ocala.

Medical professionals informed officials that a juvenile child had reported being raped and required medical attention. Law authorities contacted the juvenile’s parents, who indicated that they were made aware of the event earlier that morning.

The victim messaged them, saying they needed to go to the hospital after an encounter with the defendant, according to the complaint. The victim was taken to a forensic interview at the child advocacy center.

During the forensic interview, the victim revealed that one night in the previous weeks, they were inside their room owing to a headache. The defendant entered the room when the victim was still in bed and sat next to her. The victim repeatedly ordered Erick Rico Beauvil to leave, but he refused. Beauvil overpowered and sexually assaulted the victim when she refused to leave.

Probable cause for the defendant’s arrest was established, and he was apprehended and charged.

Beauvil was found guilty of sexual battery by a defendant under the age of 18 with a victim 12 years or older.

Assistant State Attorney Katrina Self and Certified Legal Intern Delaney Kastensmidt conducted a successful prosecution of this case.
