Woman accused of attempting to steal $52,000 through fraudulent refunds at Northwest Freeway business

Deputies from the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office are conducting an investigation into an alleged employee theft scheme after a woman was accused of attempting to fraudulently repay thousands of dollars to herself from her workplace.

According to law enforcement, deputies responded to the 27100 block of the North-west Motorway on Tuesday at 8:08 a.m. in connection with a theft investigation. Investigators claimed April Timberlake reportedly attempted to submit bogus returns totalling $52,000.

During the investigation, deputies also discovered Timberlake had an active warrant for violation of bond conditions issued out of Navarro County, the constable’s office said.

Timberlake was arrested and put into the Harris County Jail on the outstanding warrant, along with theft charges, according to authorities. Her bond was set at $10,000 out of the 184th District Court.

“Employee theft is a serious breach of trust that can have a significant financial impact on businesses,” Constable Mark Herman stated. “Our deputies thoroughly investigate these cases and will continue to hold individuals accountable when they attempt to unlawfully profit at the expense of their employers.”
