Four mothers recently gave birth to sets of triplets at West Penn Hospital, Allegheny Health Network announced.
On Friday, Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 met three of those moms, who described their experience as overwhelming but praised the doctors and nursing staff for making the transition a little easier.
“Lots of alarms and beeps make you a little hesitant, but the nurses are very reassuring, so that’s very nice, and comforting to know that there’s cameras that we can check in on them whenever we want and see them,” said Monica Wilden, of Indiana. “My family also likes that because we have family far away, so they’re constantly checking. One took a bottle yesterday for the first time, and my brother was the first to text, ‘Hey, I saw a note in his little home that he took the bottle.'”
The babies remain in the NICU to grow stronger after being delivered early, which is mostly normal with multiples.
