Two women and two businesses were federally charged in a Kentucky Medicaid fraud scheme on Wednesday.
Angela Renfro is charged with 28 counts of healthcare fraud, three counts of aggravated identity theft, and one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud.
Briana Gosnell is charged with 18 charges of healthcare fraud, two counts of aggravated identity theft, and one count of conspiracy to conduct healthcare fraud.
According to the indictment, Renfro and Gosnell, through KLF Company Limited Liability Company and Freedom Centre LLC, submitted more than $11 million in fraudulent and unlawful claims to Kentucky Medicaid between 2022 and 2023. Kentucky Medicaid paid out over $10 million in fraudulent and unapproved claims as a result.
According to the indictment, Renfro and Gosnell submitted claims using clinicians’ National Provider Identifiers without their knowledge.
