Kentucky Funeral Director Indicted After Investigation

The attorney general of Kentucky, Russell Coleman, recently announced the indictment of a Campbellsville funeral home director on felony charges of scamming more than a dozen families.

A Taylor County Grand Jury indicted Donald Auberry, 53, on 13 counts of Violation of Trust Provisions/Preneed Payments for Funeral Services (a Class C felony).

The indictment alleges that between July 2021 and April 2025, Auberry misled families who paid for his funeral services. The claimed abuses occurred at least thirteen times.

The Attorney General’s Department of Criminal Investigations investigated the matter. The case was brought to the grand jury by the Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 11th Judicial Circuit.

Arraignment is set for June 23, 2026.
