man wins $3.3 million on slot machine at Las Vegas airport

Generally, people want whatever happens in Vegas to stay there, but this could be an exception.

A lucky traveler passing through Las Vegas’s Harry Reid International Airport on Sunday won more than $3.3 million from a slot machine, prompting facility managers to comment on X on Tuesday: “Now that’s one way to spend a layover.”

“Congratulations to a happy traveler who won a $3.3 million jackpot on the Wheel of Fortune slot machine over the weekend in C Gates at [Reid] Airport! Congratulations on your fantastic achievement, and thank you for including [the airport] in your lucky travel!”

International Game Technology (IGT), a gambling organization, also confirmed the winning slot machine player, naming him “Anthony.” He won the jackpot while playing Wheel of Fortune Gold Spin Triple Red Hot 7s Slots with a $10 bet, according to the firm.

IGT published a photo of a joyful middle-aged guy posing alongside a winning slot machine.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, any gambling winnings above $5,000 are subject to an automatic 24% federal tax withholding.

In contrast, Nevada does not tax lottery winnings or personal income.

A tourist won a $1.8 million prize on the Wheel of Fortune slot machine in the airport’s D gates in May 2025, preceding Sunday’s triumph. The airport did not announce the winner.

Similarly, in September, a passenger at terminal 1 bet $1.25 on the Wheel of Fortune Triple Double Emeralds slot machine and won $348,507.71, according to the Sacramento Bee.
