3 alleged members of Tren de Aragua apprehended in ‘vicious’ Chicago kidnapping and murder: Feds

Three suspects thought to be affiliated with the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua have been charged with a gruesome kidnapping and murder in Chicago, federal officials said.

The Department of Justice announced the arrests on Wednesday, along with five additional alleged gang members discovered in Texas.

The arrests in Illinois come from a kidnapping and murder that occurred in an abandoned building in Englewood near the Dan Ryan Expressway, at 6829 S. Perry. According to federal prosecutors, three high-ranking gang members kidnapped a man outside a Chicago park and held him captive for hours before transporting him to an abandoned building, where he was shot several times and left dead in a bathtub.

“And to demonstrate how brutal and merciless this gang is, someone then called the victim’s mother and told her where she could find her lifeless son’s body,” U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois Andrew Boutros said in a press conference Wednesday.

Officials said the cases demonstrate the savagery of the gang’s organized activities.

More news about violence in Chicago is coming on Thursday.
