Suspect allegedly steals ATM containing $10K and safe with $8k in major heist

A man has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars from an ATM and a safe during a series of burglaries.

According to police affidavits, Brion Lorence Alezand Shields is accused of stealing an ATM worth less than $300,000 and burglarizing a facility.

Shields is accused of being the driver in a burglary at Ruiz Market on South Loop 1604 East on September 6, 2025.

Deputies responded to a commercial burglary alarm and discovered the front door and burglar bars smashed. According to investigators, suspects stole an ATM with about $10,000 and a safe with an estimated $8,000.

The affidavits state that surveillance video captured three individuals arriving in a black Dodge Durango. Two suspects entered the company, while the driver remained in the van and assisted in loading the stolen ATM and safe.

Deputies later spotted the Dodge Durango and carried out search warrants at the El Tejas Motel.

During the search, authorities discovered many items they believe were utilized in the burglary, including a yellow dolly, gloves, a skull face mask, a red shirt, and a cordless grinder. Authorities also confiscated smartphones.

According to the affidavits, cellphone data, surveillance video, and evidence discovered after search warrants led authorities to identify Shields as the driver in the Ruiz Market burglary.

Shields is also charged with the August 15, 2025, burglary of The Planet 420 Smoke and Vape Shop on South Loop 1604 West.
