Police say they seized more than three pounds of cocaine during a random traffic stop in the Capital Region.
Lionel J. Manigault, 41, of Brooklyn, was driving through Malta on Interstate 87 on Sunday, July 5, when state police stopped him for a traffic violation, according to the New York State Police.
Authorities say they confiscated at least two parcels carrying more than 1.5 kg of cocaine. They also discovered a “large amount” of cash, according to state police.
According to authorities, Manigault faces first- and third-degree narcotics possession charges, as well as driving infractions. According to internet records, he was being held in Saratoga County on either $250,000 cash bail, $500,000 insured bond, or $2 million partially secured bond.
According to sources, a man with Manigault’s name, age, middle initial, and birthplace was detained with a loaded weapon during a Maryland traffic stop in 2020.
Following the incident, authorities revealed that Manigault had a narcotics selling history from 2001 and a weapons possession conviction from 2007. Furthermore, a man with the same name is facing weapons charges in Manhattan, according to internet documents.
