One of Mississippi’s “Most Wanted” suspects has been arrested after a multi-agency manhunt that spanned halfway across the country.
Jayden V. Cayou, who is facing murder charges in the death of Sincyr Miller, was arrested safely today in Marinette, Wisconsin.
According to Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten, detectives discovered key information about Cayou’s whereabouts, prompting his arrest by personnel of the United States Marshals Service at around 1:55 p.m. The arrest was the result of a joint effort by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and federal agents.
“You can run from the law, but you can’t hide,” Sheriff Patten said, praising his investigation team for their tireless efforts on the case.
Cayou is now being jailed at a Wisconsin facility for extradition to Mississippi. Sheriff Patten stated that if Cayou signs an extradition waiver, local authorities will make formal arrangements to bring him back to Adams County to face charges.
The Sheriff also thanked his federal counterparts for their assistance in apprehending the fugitive.
“We cannot thank the U.S. Marshals enough for their assistance in helping bring a measure of closure to the family who lost their loved one,” Patten stated. “This arrest demonstrates what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together toward a common goal.”
The inquiry into the murder of Sincyr Miller is still ongoing.
