Hazleton police seek man accused of taking $7K in alleged auto sales scam

Hazleton police are searching for a man wanted on felony charges after reports that he collected thousands of dollars for a vehicle he never delivered.

Daniel Irizarry, 52, is wanted on charges of theft by deception and theft of services coming from an investigation into his business, 3B Auto Sales, according to the Hazleton Police Department.

Police suspect that Irizarry collected $7,000 in cash from a customer in exchange for providing a Subaru. According to investigators, over four months have passed without the vehicle being delivered.

According to authorities, when the customer requested a refund, Irizarry admitted to using the money to buy another vehicle instead of supplying the promised Subaru.

Detectives said they contacted Irizarry and offered him the opportunity to return the money before filing criminal charges, but he declined. Police also said Irizarry disregarded investigators by calling them “fake.”

Authorities said a felony arrest warrant has been issued for Irizarry.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to call 911 or leave an anonymous tip on the Hazleton Police Department’s CrimeWatch page.
