A Virginia man said what he thought was a non-winning lottery ticket lasted weeks in his van before he realized it was a $100,000 winner.
The Hanover County man informed Virginia Lottery officials that he purchased the Gold Hard Cash scratch-off ticket and then left it in his truck for weeks.
The man stated that he eventually attempted to scan the ticket, which he believed was a non-winner, for rewards points, but received an error message.
He took the ticket to a local store to have it scanned and was surprised to learn it was a $100,000 winner.
The winner stated that he plans to use his prize money to pay bills and improve his home. He stated that the remaining funds will be saved.
