Three people were arrested after gunfire erupted in the parking lot of the Pendana at West Lakes Club Apartments in west Orlando on Thursday. Surveillance footage shows people in two different vehicles opening fire and firing numerous shots at two people riding scooters in the complex’s parking lot. Police said the suspects were apprehended shortly after, following a brief vehicle pursuit and traffic stop.
According to a social media update from cops, the surveillance tape was made public, along with a description of how the shooting occurred. Investigators say officers were able to locate both suspect vehicles shortly after the incident, with Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisting with the stops and arrests. Detectives are keeping the case open while they evaluate video evidence and gather witness accounts.
The Orlando Police Department said on X that three suspects are now facing a number of significant felony charges. According to the agency, the three has been charged with various counts, including attempted felony murder, attempted first-degree murder, fleeing and eluding, as well as other connected allegations. Investigators also stated that the suspects are not residents of the apartment complex and are withholding their names and booking information as the investigation continues.
Pendana at West Lakes describes itself as a mixed-income apartment development. The site is located in Orlando’s West Lakes region, which municipal leaders and nonprofit partners have been striving to develop.
